Social networking WOM widget
Social Wonder is a new development from EyeWonder, a leading provider of online Video and Rich Media advertising products and services, which adds the ability to quickly post content from a banner ad to your blog/social network page. Gathering a lot of interest in the US already, it’s a widget that we are currently looking to test in Ireland for some of our brands. Social Wonder really empowers the consumer to welcome the brand into their online profiles and as it’s opt-in, shoud avoid the raft of negative publicity that has accompanied some other non-opt in initiatives in the marketplace.

Support includes targeted advertising on Vodafone Live and the first use of sms bill targeting in Ireland in addition to traditional advertising on six sheets and instore POS.

A new facebook application has just been launched called Add to Friends Shirt which creates a shirt that lets people get in touch with your facebook persona via a QR Code. In the application the facebook user clicks on ‘Make a shirt for me’. The QR code for the url of the user’s mobile facebook page is generated on the fly and then reproduced on a Zazzle page where they can order a variety of shirts with the QR Code printed on the back.

Emerging technology is changing the way consumers get their information and media companies and advertisers present their messages such as Kluster, a start-up, that intends to create a framework and business around crowdsourcing. Kluster is a community for people who like to tackle projects and solve problems, each of which starts with a defined goal and is broken into phases. Users offer “sparks” — ideas or solutions — and then there’s a refinement process where people can submit improvements to the ideas. Read more

Sony is opening up its in-game advertising platform — likely providing a boost to the already-burgeoning $400 million in-game-ad market and sparking a battle among the three key players who sell these ads.
The maker of the PlayStation3 system will offer an open platform, meaning in-game-ad-serving companies Double Fusion, IGA and Google-owned AdScape all will be able to sell ads in games that run on PS3, according to people familiar with Sony’s plans. The three companies will strike deals with the major game publishers creating PS3 games, such as Electronic Arts, Activision and Ubisoft. Increasingly, those who score the plum publisher deals will turn out to be the winners in the competitive and fast-growing space. Read more
